Training Questions – Swings and Trigger Point Therapy!

Hi Guys,

Not so new guy here. I have tried the program in the pass but always failed because I didnt manage to nail the proper technique down. This was further worsened as I couldnt find a local RKC.

However, I have been able to find a RKC recently (Marc Boby) and also purchased Jordan Vezina Corrections DVD. It allowed me to correct my swing (Marc realised that I was swinging the bell too way down causing my back to round on the down swing and also taught to hike pass my kettlebell properly – In case this helps anyone (: )

As a result, my lower back now feels alot better – stiffness is greatly reduced and almost gone. However I suspect I am not tensing my abs hard enough. Following the advice of the party, I try to perform each swing hardstyle. I feel everything tight up till the glutes. I try to contract the ABs, but it doesnt feel super tight. Can really feel this during the presses when I practise. Anyone have any advice on how they groove that "feeling in" of tensing the abs.

Also, my lats tend to get really tight (even before the swings). I tried foam rolling and stretching thereafter and it has helped loads. However, still abit tight which is really irritating. Thinking of seeing an ART practioner – but unsure if thats who I should be consulting.

Finally, bad posture and working in the office has caught up with me. I have managed to correct my posture greatly – slouching shoulder, turtle neck etc. However, my traps and neck tend to give me a lot of trouble. I recently managed to purchase a body back cane – (similar to the theracane) and The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. Been working on it for about two days now. It has helped greatly in my neck, less creaking so far and the base of my skull/neck area feels better.

However, when i worked on the traps (following the guidelines – not pressing down like a mad man), defintely feels less tight. However, I noticed a pretty deep ache in the traps. Has anyone experience this..? My plan was to do some back work – Inverted rolls, barbell rows, some trap work as I was worried that because my Traps have been tense for so long, they are pretty weak on their own. Anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks a lot for your help guys. I really appreciate it (:
