Steve Cotter’s pistol

Hy Comrades,

first of all, I have to say, I admire Comrade Cotter as much as possible for his extreme skills, so my question is not against him, I’m just don’t understand something. In all of Pavel’s books there is one thing with the greatest emphasis: keep your shin as uprightly as possible. I keep it in mind, but I don’t know, why is this ignored by Comrade Cotter, the mutant of the pistol? So it is not important at all? Please, help me to understand differences!
