I can press a 32kg and I’m doing good swinging a 24kg and even snatching it when I decide to. My main problem is that while doing 1 arm rows are allowed in ETK, pull-ups are preferable. Additionally, I’m in the military and getting better at pull-ups is certainly better.
When I first completed the ROP with a 24kg, I relied solely on 1 arm rows and saw little to no increase in my ability to do pull-ups. I know that doing 1 arm rows with a 32kg will significantly improve my pulling ability, however, I am currently capable of doing them for reps with no issues, so I don’t see that there will be much value.
I considered doing the 1 arm rows during the ladders and adding pull-ups on variety days, however, I think this is too much strength work. Additionally, I’m not currently in a situation at work where GTG’ing pull-ups will be possible.
My main question is, will doing 1 arm rows with the 32kg be enough to "get by", or should I adopt a different strategy. I am aware that the PM would allow several weeks to improve pull-up ability, however, my past lack of progress on the pull-up would lead me to believe that I wouldn’t be able to improve enough.
As you can see, I’ve clearly over-thought this to the point of ineffective decision making. I would appreciate it if someone who knows what they’re talking about it could just lay out a path for me. I can easily doubt my own reasoning, especially when I know I’ve contaminated it with too much analysis, but a third party is much harder to doubt.
There are many on these forums who have consistently shown the experience and knowledge for me to trust you implicitly, within reason. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me. And I apologize for the play-by-play or my own decision making process. It bores even me sometimes.
