Paleo Diet experiment

I recently decided to experiment with a paleo style diet. I essentially cut out most processed foods (I had already ceased to eat bread a few years back), and I even removed most dairy and a lot of the beans from my diet with the exception of occasional home made hummus. My past diet had been primarily carb and protein. In going to a paleo style diet my macro nutrient ratio switched to about 50% fat (coconut oil, olive oil, butter, lard), 23% carb, 27% protein. I am including lots of color in the form of vegetables and spices (cinnamon and ginger particularly) in my diet as well.

In the 3 weeks I have been on the diet I seem to have lost 14 pounds. This is including a day a week (Saturday) where I eat one non-paleo meal and even drink some beer. My belt has gotten a bit longer as well. I have also noticed that I sleep more soundly lately…with fewer wake ups in the night, and I have fewer digestive issues like gas and bloating even though my fiber intake is rather small. I also get full while eating a bit faster, so I am probably eating less.
