I am a 20 year old university student from austria and quite new to training, sports and martial arts. I apologize for my long post but I try to give you some insight on my training background. If you don’t like long posts you can skip to the end of my post to see what’s bugging me.
2 year ago I bought Super Joints to help me overcome the "aftermath" of a surgery and have been doing Joint Mobility stuff + some BW exercises nearly every morning for the last 20 months.
Half a year ago I started doing Martial Arts. I bought Enter the Kettlebell + 2 KBs about 1 month ago and I have been practising 4-5 days a week for up to 30min. I added some stuff and last week i did something like this: wall squats, goblet squats, halos, pumps, overhead squats with broomstick, TGU-practise, box squat/jump and swing-variations. I finish with good mornings and a hip-flexor stretch.
I think by end of august I can switch to the program minimum.
So far, so good. The thing is that I read about Pttp and REALLY want to try this. I don’t own the book (yet) but as far as I know the program consits of 2 sets of 5 with the deadlift and a press about 5 times a week.
I am thinking about ordering Pttp and doing the program additionally to my KB-work. Right now the KB workouts with the 16kg KB are no big strain. I think can handle Pttp in the morning.
BUT I have no experience in weight training and don’t really know how much is too much. ETK says no to additional lifting on the program minimum.
So, thats my story. Here are a couple of questions but please, don’t hesitate to give advice on any topics not mentioned.
Is it complete nonsense to mix the program minimum with Pttp?
-If yes: Why? What am I missing?
What’s the right approach to make things work? I thought about a slow start with Pttp as soon as I am accustomed to the program minimum. I would do the pttp-lifting in the morning and the program minimum in the afternoon
What tweaks would be necessary? Pttp less often? Skipping TGU?
What tweaks would be possible? To save some time I thought about switching the pttp-pressing with TGUs 2 times a week or doing TGUs and man makers in the same workout.
Puh, finally done! I really hope I can get some pointers.
Thanks!
