First, I didn’t have the all-out conditioning for the snatch test yet, so I added density to my swings. :30/:30 became :35/:25 and :40/:20. Unfortunately I have a little ulnar nerve problem and lose sensation in my fingers if I don’t relax my grip periodically. It’s actually gotten worse since I’ve put on a little muscle, although I’ve been in therapy for it. :40/:20 was slipping away from me at barely 5min. It was never my wind or my hamstrings, always my fingers.
It turns out that I have better numbers swinging one-handed than two-handed. This may not be hardstyle, but I can briefly release my grip at the top of a 1H swing to keep my hand fresh. That’s 20 short releases and 30sec outright rest every minute, per hand. That, I can do, as long as the weight itself is manageable. So, I alternated 2H :40/:20 to "go exhausted" with 1H :30/:30 to "go long", and it worked for me. Tailoring the details for my body was a valuable lesson to learn.
I could snatch. I got 100/5:11 once and nearly threw up. I could do around 16/min for well above 100 total, so I felt it was an issue of timing. My fingers, personally, snatch really well for about 12 straight in 25sec. The test needs 10 every 30sec. Once I knew where my limits were and how to approach it, the actual test was easier than I expected. I could have gone a couple more minutes at that pace, so my next goal will be 200/10min.
