Lemonade out of lemons

So, I wake up here on Eastern Long Island Sunday morning to the sight of 2 feet of untouched snow blanketing my property. really beautiful–as long as you aren’t the one who has to dig out. I had a workout planned, but looking at the shoveling ahead of me, I realized that it would be my workout for the day. 55 years old, no snowblower (the day I buy one is when all snow on earth will cease), so this had to get done the old fashioned way. Then, a lightbulb flashed–why not use it as part of the workout.

So, here-maybe I’ll publish it as "Snowbound Insanity"-although people might be expecting "The Shining"–OK, how about "Kettlebell REDRUM".

1)Double KB C&P with the 24s (set of 5) rest 30 sec.
2) Pullup ladder (1,2,3,4,5) rest 30 sec between ladders and at the end, then…
3) shovel intensely for 10 minutes. Rest 2 minutes.

Keep cycling 1,2 and 3 until all snow is removed.

I ended up doing 8 total rounds (thank God my property is small), but had to increase the rest intervals to 1 minute after round 4, but got all snow removed while doing 8 sets of double C&P and 8 pullup ladders to 5. You just have to remmber to vary the shovelling from left side to right side, or you can get a nasty lower back surprise the next day and, of course, bend your knees when lifting that shovel.

A few Alleve and a night of sleep later, and I feel pretty good. As they say, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
