Kettlebell Routines

Review: Return of the Kettlebell

I’m not sure I can speak highly enough about Return of the Kettlebell. Maybe it’s the little things, like how we are walked through the squat with pictures that answer so many questions for the novice or the several pages dedicated to the Hip Flexor stretch. Honestly, the devil is in the details when it [...]

Maximum reps for kettlebell snatches?

I've heard that the limit for kettlebell reps should be 100 snatches. Is that 100 snatches per side or 50 per side for 100 total? 100 for each different exercise or total of all exercises?

Kettlebell throws for abs?

Can I do kettle bell throws on my non-Janda situp month in the Bulletproof Abs routine? If so, I thought I would do one set of five throws in each hand, five days per week.

Kettlebell sets and reps to build explosive power?

I have watched Pavel Tsatsouline's Russian Kettlebell Challenge several times, but I still don't quite understand about the reps and sets. I'm looking to build explosive power, strength, and muscular endurance without bulking up.

What routines are others doing?

I've just begun finishing up my Power to the People workout with dumbbell snatches for reps. I'm just surfing to see what reps, sets, and rest intervals everyone is using.

Breaking Up the Routine

Although kettlebells are awesome for strength building and fat burning, after a while it's my nature to get bored with things (except for my wife, of course). :-) So today I broke down and signed up with Gold's Gym. It's been quite a while since I did any kind of standard bodybuilding type workout, so it'll be interesting to see how things go.

My wife has gone to Gold's with a friend on a guest pass a few times and really likes their "Body Pump" classes, so for our anniversary I thought I'd go ahead and get us a couple of memberships. Yeah, yeah I know… I'm a true romantic.

Kettlebell exercises for abs?

Does anyone have ideas for killer kettlebell abdominal exercises? The pass through the legs seems to use the abs for stabilization, but seems to primarily work the back.

Kettlebells and Bulletproof Abs

My largest kettlebell is perfect for one-arm deadlifts as described in Bulletproof Abs. It's heavy enough to do the job and really works the grip, but is much easier to balance than a barbell and it really works the abdominal obliques.

Need suggestions for routines

With great anticipation I opened my Kettlebell tape and shoved it into my VCR. I was not disappointed. Your presentation and instruction are first rate. The thing is, I'm not sure how to structure a routine.

Deadlift singles & kettlebell set/rep scheme?

Does anyone do deadlift singles as a workout routine? I'm wondering if there are benefits to singles vs the conventional 5 reps or vice-versa. I've had some problems getting 5 good reps in the deadlift no matter what the weight, but I'm able to go heavy with good technique on singles.

Here's a kettlebell routine

I try and train with kettlebells five days per week, concentrating almost exclusively on snatches and bent presses. I'll do snatches with the 24 kg kettle bell, 10 reps each hand alternating until I reach 150-200 reps (total).

Kettlebell Ladder of Pain

I made up a ladder yesterday that brought me very near to puking. I did it during the last minutes of my 30 minute kettlebell workout after my last kettlebell Farmer's Walk up the stairs. I do the given number of reps for each arm, no rests, and repetitions for swings are always double the [...]

Ease Back into Kettlebell Workouts After a Layoff

I tend to work out in spurts… I'll go banzai for a few weeks and then I'll tend to slack off for a while. Recently I decided I needed to whip myself into better shape again and started doing some very brief kettlebell workouts. I was mainly interested in trying some creative ways to help [...]

(Kettlebell) Swinging Your Way To Strength

This article was written by Tom Barrett. I was pretty excited about the arrival of my 24 kg kettlebell. When I got home from work, there it was still in its cardboard wrapper waiting for me to start playing with it. Shredding the carton, I freed the iron and dusted it off. “I shall call [...]
