Remembering how my fellow rugby players had avoided stitches in the ER by applying super glue to some impressive wounds, and doing a quick search on wikipedia, I found this article: Cyanoacrylate – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia All I had was Gorilla Glue, and I applied a second coat after 30 minutes.
I have to admit that I was rather skeptical that this would work on such a high traffic area (my hand) as opposed to what I had seen on, for example a gash on the forehead. Add to that I was using my 32kg frankenbell with a 5lb plate bolted to the bottom. This inferior (but cost efficient) bell had a ceramic coating on the handle that I had to chip off, so it is particularly rough, but I was anxious to do my medium day ROP.
I brought a pair of cut off gloves that I expected I would have to use, but to my surprise, the Gorilla Glue not only survived the workout and eliminated the soreness on that spot but it also outlasted several sessions of blazing hot sauna and freezing cold shower and is still intact this morning after several applications of corn huskers and lotion over night.
When I go for my RKC next year, I plan on bringing Gorilla Glue with me just in case I get a tear. I hope this is helpful to others.
