I’ve begun the PTTP program for a few weeks with barbell military presses and deads, however, I’m encountering a problem relating to deadlifting.
Now, I don’t want to avoid deadlifting as it’s easily my best and favourite exercise. The problem is, I am encountering sharp pain in the lower lumbar area where it ties in with the glutes. This isn’t just muscle soreness as I have had this problem on my right side as well from an old work-related back injury.
This usually occurs when I pull frequently. Strangely, when I max-out sometimes, it doesn’t bother me other than normal muscle soreness. Also, pulling once or twice a week does not seem to cause issues.
I still would like to continue pressing PTTP style as it seems to be working really well. I also would like to increase my deadlift from 300lbs where it’s dropped to since I’ve lost weight.
If someone could help me or perhaps link me with an appropriate article or thread, I’d greatly appreciate it.
