- Rippletoe’s deadlift calls for moving your shin forward to touch the bar, so that you can initiate with your quads. Pavel wants the shins to be vertical as much as possible. So should the bar EVER touch your legs besides the lockout?
- What is the approved breathing pattern? This article The Deadlift: Form Replaces Fear: A Strength Training and Powerlifting article from Dragon Door Publications has a firsthand Pavel trainee saying to inhale at the bottom, after you squat, and after you brace your abs. PTTP has you inhale fully before squatting and exhale half/inhale fully at lockout.
- I don’t get Pavel’s idea behind letting the air out slowly, in a high pressure stream. I’ve always done a full rep in one breath. If you let out your air, how will you still exhale/inhale at lockout? Also, letting air out means losing abdominal pressure.
