Most diet plans and calorie counting programs are either fads or are intended for couch potatoes and have limited value for active people. I got a free subscription to Outside magazine for buying a pair of Merrell hiking shoes. In it I found this article to calculate calorie intake and burn for active people. In the magazine the writer started at 13% BF I think and lost 12 pounds with the data from this calculation. It makes sense and distills weight loss down to what it is CALORIES. There is no special fat burn exercise…calories lost are calories lost…and calories gained are calories gained I have discovered…mostly the hard way. There is no magic bullet exercise that negates the need for attention to intake. Anyway here is the link to the online portion of the article which has the calculations.
