Cc progressions: Mission possible!

I’ve read several posts lately where people here seem to think that the six "Master Steps" of Convict Conditioning are impossible. People have said it so much, that it seems to have become a truism. People are even saying that these steps are "inspirational" and were never meant to be taken seriously by Coach Wade!

This is just nuts. It’s time to put this myth to bed once and for all please.

All of the Master Steps can, and have, been done. Let’s look at them:

1. One-arm push ups: Many people have done them. With the feet together, as in CC? I’ve seen someone do it with the feet a few inches apart, and since I can do a negative with the feet together, I know a positive is possible–if you’re strong enough.

2. One-arm pull ups: Sure, not every day fare, but it can definitely be done. (It has been done, by Jack Arnow and others. Guys were doing this hundreds of years back. I think there was a record of Sandow doing it in his show?)

3. One-leg squats: Pistols, essentially. Nobody will argue with this.

4. Straight leg raises: Seen it, done it (badly) got the T-shirt.

5. One-arm handstand push ups: Well, you can argue about the form, but these guys aren’t that far off. Certainly this is incredibly hard–the equivalent of a bent-press or side press with body weight–but those feats have been done too, by some true greats. It can be done, folks.

6. Stand-to-stand bridges: Also, not a problem.

So out of six "impossible" strength feats, it turns out that only one is even under question (one-arm handstand push ups), and any athlete worth his or her salt, who understands the human body and the history of the game, will look at it and say: actually, yeah–that can be done.
