Arrrrghh! I’m backsliding on ETK

I had worked up to doing 5 ladders of 4 rungs with 32kg but my progress is starting to slip. I had wanted to see this out until I could press 40kg and was already doing nice slow negatives with that bell. A few weeks ago my numbers started getting worse until two days ago I had a few failed reps trying to do ladders of only 3 rungs

A few new variables that I’m sure are having their effects on my training are that I recently took my MMA practice to a new level and have really been getting seriously smoked there. Also, I began the WD about the same time – I already knew this might be trouble so I have modified it so that I am now eating more protein and fat during the day and still having a large meal at night. This seems to be helping my recovery but is a new change.

So, the question that I have is this: I am going to change programs for a while to let my CNS reset on the press since I’ve been doing ETK since January. I am going to move to doing compound KB lifts with double 24kg bells and feel that this will be good for MMA conditioning as well. I’d like to lay off of the 32kg press entirely for at least a few weeks, but being so close to passing the ROP (I weigh 165lbs), I do not want to lose my accomplishments in the press. What can I do in the meantime to keep my gains? I was thinking of doing plenty (10-12 minutes) of alternating TGUs w/32kgs and hoping that there would be some carryover.

Any thoughts?

Thank You,
MM
